2009 for the Hall started on 6th January with a production of The Snow Queen. With a cast of four, the company from Hampshire kept us all entertained and despite the inclement weather it was well attended. The ‘Night Out’ scheme supported by the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) and Flintshire County Council (FCC) assisted financially.
With
the Craft, Food and Gift Fayres again in April, May, June & July, our thanks
go to the organisers and supporters, these Fayres are well attended and proving
to be a good source of income. Next
Fayres: August 22nd, September 26th,
October 24th, November 21st and December 12th 10
am – 3.30pm. Your support would be welcome.
Weather for the Car Boot Sale on May 25th, held on the Meadow, was very good which makes for a successful event. Profits were in excess of £1,000.
A Treasure Hunt, BBQ and Quiz held on June 28th was a joint
effort between the Village Hall and the ParishChurch and enjoyed by almost 100
people.
Not originally organised to be a
fund-raiser but as a social event, it gave us a profit of £228 each. Requests were received for another similar
event to take place, so watch out for notices!
Thank you to Llanasa Parish Council who gave us a £50 donation towards
this.
The 25th July was another event supported by ACW & FCC
‘Night Out’ scheme. Tony Jacobs presented
to us ‘The Swing Cabaret Trio’, with Jim Barry & Sue Greenway who entertained
us with hit songs and music from Cole Porter, Bing, Sinatra, and Ella to name
but a few. What professionals! A superb evening was had by all.The new Ladies group ‘Friends of Llanasa’ held a Strawberry Tea on the
11th July in the hall. A
total of £570.00 was raised in aid of HM Stanley Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at
St. Asaph. 40lbs of strawberries, over a
gallon of cream and dozens of fresh home made fruit scones were consumed. Wow! Enquiries to join the group 01745 571652
Friday the 4th September, Paul Parry is talking on local
history which covers the Parish of Llanasa – entrance is £2 to include
tea/coffee and biscuits. Any questions
will be invited.
Plans are being made for a Festival of St. David next March 6th
(a bit early you may think!) Nevertheless
it will be a very full programme using local artists. A joint effort between
the Hall and the ParishChurch with support &
funding by Cadwen Clwyd.
The Woman’s Institute, Mother’s Union, Guides, Rangers,
Brownies, Rainbows, Sunday school and Care Workers support the hall by holding
regular meetings throughout the year. The
hall is also hired for private functions – why not hold yours here?
The Hall trustees were recently
awarded £4,280.10 by Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) from the
Community Action Partnership Fund. This
was to replace the plastic guttering and down-pipes with cast iron – this work
has been carried out by local tradesmen and looks really good. The rest of the money is for the re-painting
of the outside woodwork which will commence in the autumn, again we are using
local professionals.
