A Brief History

Llanasa Village Hall was formally The Victorian School built in !859 for the Church  Authorities.                                                                                            

At the end of the Summer term in 1960 the school was closed by Flintshire County Council. A meeting of users of the former Church Hall was convened to decide whether the school could be utilised as a Village Hall, this was agreed to in December 1960 with the offer of a substantial financial contribution from the former Delyn Borough Council (which was in the process of merging to create the present Flintshire County Council). The Village Hall was purchased for the future benefit of the residents of Llanasa and the surrounding area.

A new Management committee was formed of the Village Hall user groups and a constitution was adopted on the 2nd July 1996.  This followed in 1998 by receiving Charity Commission status. The objects of the Charity were set to provide the inhabitants of Llanasa and the neighbourhood in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities for recreation and leisure time pursuits.

In April 2001 the Village Hall received a Grade Two listing under the planning-Act 1990.

Through Flintshire County Council acting on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government, grants were awarded to the Village Hall to undertake internal improvements in 2004 and 2005. Now floors and ceilings have been installed along with underfloor heating, new lighting, power and alarms .Toilet facilities have been provided for the disabled with wheelchair access. The Village Hall is currently administered by seventeen Management Trustees who hire out the building at reasonable charges for meetings, recreation, performing arts, parties, wedding receptions exhibitions etc so if you require a congenial venue the Village Hall will be pleased to accommodate you.
